There are several actions or parameters that can be monitored with these tools. Though some of the tools are limited with regards to the actions they can perform, most of them can do a lot of things.
Some of these tools are also subscription based whereas others are not. The ones that are free normally come with the webhosting platform or service. This tool is usually part of the features of the back end of any webhosting service or plan. It monitors and reports the amount of visitors the website receives all the time. This tool makes the whole task to very effective and a lot easier to optimize your website for maximum results. One can use this tool to trace where the website visitors are coming from i.e. the website sending traffic to your website, the pages the visitors get to see first when they come, the duration of their visit to your website, the keywords that they were searching for (i.e. if they came from search engines), and even the geographical location of the visitor.

3. Alexa

This is another tool that is similar to statscounter. The only difference is that Alexa get the demographic data of all the website visitors. It provides discrete information about the visitors such as the gender, occupations, income levels or ranges, educational status and the keywords that are being searched the most. All of these information are useful to webmasters in several ways. This tool can be found at alexa.com and it is not subscription based.
