Miss World pageant is the oldest significant international beauty pageant made by Eric Morley in the United Kingdom in 1951. It is now headed by Julia Morley, Morley’s wife. Miss World beauty pageant is the most publicized beauty contests in the world besides Miss Universe and Miss Earth.
The Miss World Organization possesses and manages the annual Miss World Finals. Since its inception, is has raised more than 250 million Euros for children’s charities. Franchised in more than 100 countries, Miss World Limited is a private firm that figures for its earnings, expenses and their charitable contributions are not public.

Each contestant of the Miss World has to win a national title in the year preceding the global finals. The Miss World pageant is a month long event, with separate events, dinners, activities and balls. The spectacular Miss World event is then telecast globally in which the field is narrowed to 15-20 contestants.
Miss World 2011 is the 61 st edition of the Miss World pageant which is scheduled on November 6 at Earls Court Exhibition Centre in London. Alexandria Mills of the United States is the current Miss World. The Miss World 2011 will be crowned by her. The winner gets to spend a year travelling to represent the Miss World Organization and its various causes.
As of July 2011, 71 contestants have been selected from Albania, Argentina, Canada, Ecuador, India, Indonesia, Kazakhstan, Russia, Scotland, Zimbabwe and many other countries
